  1. 1.  Charles Alexander Stewart was born on 14 Mar 1866 in farm near Perry Iowa; died on 28 Jun 1932 in York, Nebraska; was buried in Eastview Cemetery near Allen Nebraska.

    Notes:

Charles was a pupil in the first school at Springbank. At seven he was going to the fields regularly to help bind the grain. By the time he was in his early teens, his father's health made it necessary to assume much of the responsibility for the farm. Charles finished eight grades. At age twenty one, he bought the general store and Post Office at Springbank. With the coming of the railroad, the town of Allen was built. Allen was three miles from Springbank which made it impractical to continue the country store at Springbank. IN 1895, Charlie started farming for himself, and later, he engaged in the seed business in Allen, NE. He was an Odd Fellow, a Democrat and a Methodist. He never married. When he entered the Odd Fellows home in York, NE in 1930, Charlie deeded his farm to them. He died two years later.
