  1. 1.  Justine Christina Marquardt was born on 26 Dec 1845 in West Prussia (daughter of Michael Marquardt and Anna Klawitter); died in Ruby, Silver Lake, Ont; was buried on 9 Jan 1942 in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Silver Lake, Ont.

    Notes:

    On 13 April 1882 Justine, her husband Johann Schauer and their little girl, Wilhelmina, bega n their journey to Canada from West Prussia. They left from the port of Hamburg, arrivin g in England.They then crossed the country by train to Liverpool.
    From Liverpool they boarded the Dominion Steamship Liner Quebec and after twenty-one days a t sea they docked in Halifax, Nova Scotia. From Halifax they continued their voyage to Quebe c , then by rail to Renfrew, Onario and finally to the Silver Lake area, where Justine's brot her Johann had settled.
    During the ship voyage a little boy was born. His name was Alexander Lempke, and five year o ld Wilhelmina cared for him until they reached the end of their journey.
    Nineteen years later Wilhelmina and Alexander were married in Silver Lake and raised their ow n family.

    Justine married Johann Schauer about 1865 in West Prussia. Johann was born about 1840 in West Prussia; died on 27 Oct 1898 in Silver Lake, Renfrew Co., Ontario; was buried on 30 Oct 1898 in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Silver Lake, Ont. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    1. Wilhelmina Schauer was born on 13 Jan 1877 in West Prussia; was christened on 16 Jan 1877 in West Prussia; died in Silver Lake, Ontario; was buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Silver Lake.
    2. Karl (Charlie) Schauer was born in 1886 in Silver Lake, Ontario; was christened in 1886 in Silver Lake, Ontario.

  1. 2.  Michael Marquardt was born about 1810 in West Prussia; died about 1875 in West Prussia; was buried in 1875 in West Prussia.

    Notes:

    The story of the Marquardts begins with Michael and, ironically, ends for him. He died in We st Prussia, thus ending his dream to come to America and begin a new life with his wife Ann a Klawitter and sons Johann and Gottlieb. His widow, the two sons (Gottlieb and Johann) and J ohanns' son, Henry Albert, made the journey without him, settling in Silver Lake, after an ar duous journey by sailing ship, train and horse and buggy.

    Michael married Anna Klawitter about 1832 in West Prussia. Anna was born in 1810 in West Prussia; died in 1889 in Silver Lake, Renfrew Co., Ontario. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
