Notes - In 1891 Census James was a coal miner, as was his son John who was 13 years old. The family consisted of husband, wife and seven children. They lived at No.2 Breckon Beds,St.Helens, Gateshead, Co.Durham in 1891.
In the 1881 Census James was a coalminer and lived at Bothel, Cumberland and, apart from his wife and children, he lived with Jane Mann (20), his neice, born Maryport, married, and her daughter Margaret Mann (4 months), born Bothel.
